The Slow Era is a shop highlighting slow fashion and slow-made items while promoting sustainable practices.
Tap into your lighthearted side as you walk through our fun, colorful space where vintage and hand-made clothing, jewelry, and home decor are lovingly curated. Outside of our house brand, we carry the collections of five Iowa-based vintage curators–Big Hoss, Cormac & Fae, Extra Closet Vintage, Everyday Vintage, and Moon River Vintage. Together, we carry everything from classic basics, to true vintage, groovy finds, and western wear.
In addition to vintage, we carry items that are handmade by local and national artists. Every month, we collaborate with a new artist to create pieces exclusively for The Slow Era that you can’t find anywhere else.
Most people think you can’t wear your values and also express yourself creatively. We’re here to say otherwise—Proving that a slower lifestyle doesn’t need to be boring.
The Slow Era is for people who oppose the corporate, consumerist framework that steals from artists, devalues objects, and mass produces poorly-made items for profit at the expense of workers and the planet.
The Slow Era is run by Malena, who has an art background and 15 years of experience buying and selling vintage. We aspire for our shop to provide unique items built to last and meant to be cherished, while celebrating creators, promoting community over competition, and sustainability for both the planet and ourselves.
